We are happy that our Medipix single-electron detector for electron diffraction tomography (EDT), helps scientists once again with determining crystal structure efficiently and reliably. Based on their findings, scientists from Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Hungary, and their collaborators, have proposed that monoclinic aragonite (mAra) is a widespread crystalline CaCO3 that plays an unrecognized key role in the formation of metastable aragonite.
